Capital City Stadium is a 6,000 seat baseball stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. It is home to the Columbia Blowfish Minor League Baseball Team since 2006. They are now a part of the Coastal Plain League-Summer Collegiate Baseball. Capital City Stadium is conveniently located only fifteen minutes from the Columbia Airport and all portions of the city are within a five-ten minute drive from the stadium. In addition to the outdoor seating at Capital City Stadium, the Stadium houses a spacious hospitality room. Capital City Stadium is fully equipped with large restroom facilities on both the 1st and 3rd baselines. Plus, the Stadium has an ATM machine and souvenir shop for the spectators' convenience. Capital City Stadium is available to be rented year-round for everything from corporate events and product launches to carnivals and concerts. Whatever your need is, Capital City Stadium can fulfill it. The information below outlines many of the facilities that Capital City Stadium has open to rent, however other options are available. STADIUM RENTALS Since Capital City Stadium was renovated in 1990, the Columbia Blowfish have booked numerous acts for post-game concerts and stand alone events. Such acts include: Hootie and the Blowfish, Lou Rawls, and many more. Capital City Stadium can be used for many other events beyond concerts. The Blowfish have had many outdoor events that vary from boxing and wrestling matches. The vast size of the stadium and the extensive field size allow events of nearly any type to be successfully held to Capital City Stadium. Capital City Stadium is a beautiful venue. With its bowled stadium seating and optional additional seating on the field, it is a tremendous stadium for an outdoor concert or event. A breakdown of the stadium seating capacity (not including field eating) is as follows: Box Seats 2000 Reserved – Lower Level 2000 Reserved – Upper Level 2000 General Admission TOTAL STADIUM SEATING 6,000. If the event involves a stage, ring, etc., it may be placed anywhere on the playing surface, provid-ing a wide variety of seating capacities depending on the show requirements. Capacity could be anywhere from 5,000 (with the stage setting on one of the baselines, essentially cutting the stadium in half), to 11,000 (with the stage under the center field wall and a large number of seats/standing room on the field). A great aspect of Capital City Stadium is that regardless of the location of the stage, at no time is the spectator's view obstructed. The main variable to consider is how many people are expected at the show. Once this number is determined, we can adjust the stage location as necessary to accommodate that number of seats. STAGE: The Columbia Blowfish work with a local production company and a stage is available for events at Capital City Stadium.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ELECTRICITY: For larger shows or shows for which the stage will be placed deep in center field, generated power will be necessary. TICKETING: The Columbia Blowfish have a ticketing system including an on-site box office as well as online ticket purchase capability. Lessees of Capital City Stadium have the option of using the Blowfish ticketing system- E Tix (www.etix.com). HOSPITALITY ROOMS: Capital City Stadium houses two picnic areas: a large, fully-catered hospitality room that can hold up to 100 people. Lessees may be able to have use of the Stadium Club, depending on the size and specific agreement of the event. These areas are great places for the event's artists and performers to relax before and after the show and the perfect places to entertain the event's top sponsors. DRESSING ROOMS: Both clubhouses can be made available as dressing rooms during all concerts not in conjunction with a baseball game. The visitor's clubhouse is located down the first base line, and the home clubhouse the same. Both clubhouses are large, open rooms with a smaller room normally designated as the coach's locker room. The umpire's locker room, located next to the visitor's clubhouse, is a smaller dressing area also available for these concerts. In situations where multiple dressing areas are a must, RV's may be brought in as additional dressing rooms for the Artists. These RV's will be parked in a secure, fenced in area behind the outfield wall, away from normal pedestrian traffic and close to the field/stage access. These spacious RV's will have electric outlets, bathroom facilities, air conditioning, refrigerators and many other conveniences. This area may also serve well as a parking area for tour buses. COST: Stadium rental is negotiable depending on size and type of event. For booking inquiries please call 803-254-3474. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMPANY PARTIES/PRIVATE PARTIES Capital City Stadium is the perfect place to have corporate or private parties. Parties will have exclusive use of Capital City Stadium for their function. The Blowfish will make an itinerary catered to each event's specific needs. Some of the most popular options include on field games such as sumo wrestling, perfect pitch contest, Blowfish jumping balloon and inflatable slide. You may even have the choice of using the Blowfish batting cages including having Blowfish players pitch to your party! In addition to these games, parties can have interactive games such as egg tosses, water balloon tosses, sack races and many more. Each party also includes clowns, face painters, and magicians to entertain children of all ages. Plus, parties have the option of having the Blowfish mascot, "Blowie", and the Blowfish players sign autographs during the party. Your private or corporate party will be catered by the Blowfish own Home Plate Catering. The baseball-themed all-you-can-eat buffet is our most popular selection and includes grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, potato chips, baked beans, ice cream and soft drinks. Adult beverage options can be added. Other buffet selections are available and can be tailor-made for each party's needs. Prices include the rental of Capital City Stadium for four hours, all food, games, entertainment and staff for the event. Package also includes tickets for all the party's guests to that night's Blowfish game (if applicable). Our vast lots can hold up to 1000 cars. Both the North and South lots can be used to rent for events such as carnivals, circuses, car and motorcycle races, product launches, etc. The South lot is directly off Assembly Street and can be seen by all traffic passing by.
