Blowfish Fall to SwampDogs
FAYETVILLE, N.C.- The Columbia Blowfish fell to the Fayetteville SwampDogs 3-2 Saturday night in Coastal Plain League play. The loss snapped the Blowfish five game win streak and puts them into second place in the West Division. The SwampDogs got on the board in the second after a one out walk and an Andrew Parker two run homerun. The SwampDogs added another run in the fourth on a Reed Harper leadoff triple and a Blake Beemer RBI single. The Blowfish scored their first run in the fifth on an RBI double from Joshua Miller and added their second run in the seventh on a Ryan Gebhardt sac fly to right. Derek Beasley started on the mound for the Blowfish going seven innings and giving up three runs on four hits while striking out seven. Adam Albers threw the eighth for the Blowfish giving up no runs on a hit while striking out two. Layne Somsen got the win for the SwampDogs. The Blowfish return home on Sunday for a doubleheader against the SwampDogs. First pitch for game one is set for 5:05 with game two starting shortly after the conclusion of game one. The Columbia Blowfish are in their seventh season at Historic Capital City Stadium and are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
