Blowfish Alum Awarded "Batter of the Week"
Former Blowfish centerfielder Justin Greene was named the Batter of the Week (May 17-23) for the Class A Advanced Carolina League on Monday.
The current Winston-Salem Dash batted .345 on the week with two home runs and seven RBIs. Greene came through in the clutch with a game-tying RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 14th inning in a 20-inning win over Myrtle Beach on Wednesday. On Friday, Greene continued his hot hitting by going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.
This is the second time this season Greene has been honored as the Carolina League Batter of the Week, having also received the award during the week of April 26 through May 2.
While with the Blowfish in 2007, Greene batted .259 through 46 games and earned a spot on the American All-Star Team. He led the Blowfish in runs scored with 37, stolen bases with 14, and triples with four.
Greene was drafted out of Francis Marion in the 20th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago White Sox.
