2012 SPECIAL PROMOTIONS!
USO of SC & National Guard Appreciation Night
June 6, 2012

The USO would like to celebrate their second anniversary in South Carolina by recognizing all their dedicated volunteers on June 6, 2012 at Capital City Stadium when the Columbia Blowfish take on the Forest City Owls. The USO supports the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform. The USO provides a bridge to home for our service men and women, providing them and their families with communications access, entertainment, goods and services, and simple day-to-day comforts. The SC volunteers are supporting service members and their families traveling through Columbia Metropolitan Airport and those stationed at Fort Jackson, Fort Gordon, Shaw Air Force Base, 81st Regional Support Command and McEntire Joint National Guard Base.
There will be special events going on throughout the night, paying a special tribute to all the volunteers and fallen National Guard heroes. The Blowfish will wear original National Guard/USO baseball caps during the game to show their support for the troops. The Columbia Blowfish Baseball Club is entering it's 4th annual Fort Jackson Military Appreciation Night. Over 3,000 soldiers from Fort Jackson are in attendance to enjoy Blowfish Baseball. When the soldiers arrive at the stadium, they are greeted by our staff with a hot dog, chip and a drink for each soldier. This is the first time these soldiers have eaten off-base in six months! They then are dismissed to enjoy the rest of Capital City Stadium and the game. There are several military-themed promotions and activities the soldiers participate in during the game. At the conclusion of the game, all branches of the military are recognized followed by a fireworks display.
